pimp my master

we have really neglected our master bedroom for far too long. it's the most  b l a h  room in our home right now, and we have reached our breaking point. by that i mean, i reached my breaking point with the grossness, and B reached his breaking point of me complaining about it. so we get to do a little spruce up! on a shoestring budget of course.

i took to my pinterest bedroom board to get a sense of what i gravitate toward in bedrooms. here are some of my favorites. the common elements?

1. a really restful palette. i'm not a bright and bold bedroom girl.
2. SYMMETRY. we've beaten this horse before. symmetry is my design xanax and and it's never more important than in the master. plus i feel like matching lamps is a cute little nod to partnership. the discord can stay in the guest room.
3. a light upholstered bed or headboard.
4. darker furniture to anchor all the dreamy lightness of the space.
5. mirrors to open up the space and some pretty conservatively-sized artwork.

i'm off to begin the hunt. stay tuned for progress on this episode of pimp my master.

(who remembers "pimp my ride"? and to think, television has sunken FURTHER than that). i'm looking at you, honey boo boo.

a homey spot for your homie

normally, i'm anti twin beds because i'm too long and i feel like buddy the elf in them.
but i could handle this one fo sho. this is a tiny space, yall. but it feels airy and refreshing because it's decorated well. see how simple that is to talk about and how hard it is to achieve?
let's break it down. what contributes to the airy?
1. making the most of the natural light through breezy window treatments and a light reflecting mirror and a crystal lamp that you can see through. (lucite maybe, but same thing).
2. scale of the furniture. impossible to go wide here, so the designer climbed the walls. the size of the bed, headboard, nightstand all feel grounded but not heavy.
3. color, lest we forget. white. bright. airy. clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

grey + gold sitting in a tree

I'm smitten with this watch, and like to visit it a lot and stare lovingly at its face and handsome Roman numerals. It's just got me lusting after all things grey and gold.

a well curated cabin

just came across this space from Country Living's bargain issue. Country Living is one of my favorites. It has felt really fresh in the last few years. check out the home of restoration hardware's art director, brooke hanson. i wonder if she wants b & i to move in with her? who wouldn't want that? he could watch the effing golf channel while brookie and i were buying vintage linens and making homemade lattes.
