making my peace with the burgundy trend

so burgundy is having a moment, and it kinda hurts my feelings. i can't quite get about it ... especially the dark burgundy lip at all the runway shows. it feels really janeane garofolo/ early nineties; not a time we should be super psyched about revisiting (except you, economy. you can revisit. but you mustn't wear burgundy lips).

but one of the things that inspires me so much about fashion and personal style in general is that it is all up for interpretation and adjustments. there is a way to make anything work for you. not realizing this is a trap for people. start with a little dose, a chunky necklace or a bag. and maybe step into the jeans, but turn it into a neutral with rugged, tomboy pieces. find an unexpected but complementary color, like the pale aqua.

here are three looks with burgundy pieces that even i can get on board with.
and p.s. if those Givenchy boots are reading this, i want to have a long happy life with you.
